Got my Ninja V+ Yesterday.Atomos has just announced a major firmware update for the Ninja V+. Personally, I've been shooting 8K RAW for a while now with no issues, All internal with no extra stuff. Canon got ahead start and so right now is exclusive. If you want 8K RAW, then for a while at least, the R5 is the only option. If you primarily shoot 4K 120p, then buy one of the supported models."4Kp120 recording at up to ProRes RAW from the Ninja V+ and Sony FX6/FX9 and Z CAM E2 /E2-M4 models, with more models to follow." So the A7Siii is not supported yet, but will be. They worked with Sony on 4K 120p and Canon on 8K RAW. “RAW up to 8K30 and 4K120” “Compatible cameras : Canon EOS R5, Sony A7SIII, and all 8K30 and 4K120 capable mirrorless cameras with HDMI out” And if you are getting a Ninja V+, then the R5 is really the best and only option for 8K RAW. Canon and Atomos have democratized 8K for the masses with no compromise in quality.Ītomos would not feature the R5 so prominently in on their web site if they found any issues while testing. The possibilities you have when shooting in 8K are a true game changer. The Ninja V+ should be even better, Atomos said they worked with Canon for 2 years to develop this solution, unlimited 8K RAW shooting,Ītomos and Canon have worked together for the past 2 years to bring customers a world first for capturing stunning 8K RAW and HDR images with incredible clarity and detail in a compact and configurable system that is very affordable when compared with other 8K setups. And while not necessary, get an AC/Dummy battery for the R5 if you are shooting in a studio or location with AC. That's is the biggest cause of over heating. That’s where I’d start if you haven’t tried already Have you already tried a new hdmi cable? Not saying you have the wrong one maybe there is something wrong with the connection points. If this is happening to anyone else, please let me know! And for anyone planning to use a Ninja V with Servo AF & EF glass, consider this a warning!Ĭanon has not yet answered me, thinking I'll try calling this week. My plan is to contact Canon and direct them to this thread, and if no solutions can be offered I'll be returning my camera. After waiting months for my R5 to arrive, what I'm left with is a $5000+ camera system that cannot be relied on for any professional work. I have tried MANY different settings, multiple HDMI 2.0 cables, recording to the Ninja with card in and card out of the R5, Sigma EF and Canon EF lenses, OS / IS on and off, etc. I use an AtomX 1tb SSD that I format in the Ninja V before each shoot. I'd say I'm 80/20 video/stills, so this camera was meant to replace my Panasonic GH5, which has been 100% reliable since day 1. You're probably safe if you plan to primarily shoot stills with this cam and shoot some light video internally. THIS FREEZING / DROPPING AUDIO DOES NOT HAPPEN DURING INTERNAL RECORDING. I can deal with using an HDMI lock to prevent damage to the camera, but that connection needs to be rock solid and reliable delivering data to the external recorder. It's clear they didn't want to mess with sales of their higher end cine line. The overheating issues basically force me to record to a Ninja V for anything longer than 15-20 min, so needless to say it's disappointing to see Canon employ a fragile micro HDMI 2.0 connection rather than mini or full size HDMI 2.1 (helping future-proof and allow more external recording options). One of the main reasons I preordered this camera was for the incredible AF technology (both for video and stills) as well as my investment in EF glass. I'm pretty much at the end of my rope and ready to return my R5. VIDEO SHOWING PROBLEM WHEN USING COMPUTER SCREEN AS MONITOR (NOT RECORDING) VIDEO SHOWING PROBLEMS DURING RECORDING TO NINJA V
